Sir Paul Smith will be awarded the 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award from the British Fashion Council on Monday evening. It is a great accolade for the Nottinghamian designer, whose first shop was opened in the city in 1970, and a great pleasure for all those who remember him personally running his first boutique in Nottingham before that. Now he has over 200 shops in Japan alone.
He has received four previous awards from the British Fashion Council and was knighted by H. M. The Queen in 2000. Read more from the BBC.
