This morning The Telegraph published a series of moving portraits of surviving veterans of Bomber Command, the RAF strike force that flew combat missions over Europe (and beyond) in the Second World War. Each portrait contrasts a photograph of a young man in uniform with the grand old man he is today.
This publication is a moving prelude to the unveiling of the Bomber Command memorial in Hyde Park, London, tomorrow. The unveiling will be broadcast on BBC 2 at 5pm tomorrow (Thursday), featuring a poppy drop to commemorate the lost lives of 55,573 airmen from Bomber Command.
