Becoming a Mad Men poster girl with Simplicity 3446
A few days ago I made a killer purchase online. I managed to get my hands on a vintage pattern that I think could be a real match for that orange dress Christina Hendricks wears in the iconic Mad Men poster.
Misses’ and Women’s One-Piece Dress with Two Skirts: Dress has lowered round neckline, detailed in front with a tie trim and short set in sleeves. Belt is self fabric or purchased. V. 1 has very short sleeves and a 4 gore skirt with soft pleats at waistline. V. 2 short sleeves are longer than V. 1. Slim skirt has soft pleats at front waistline and back kick pleat (Copyright – Simplicity, 1960).
With its sexy slenderette fit and hourglass cut, this dress could be a real winner. I love the tie trim around the scoop neckline, and I reckon it could be easily adapted to sit above the bust just like Joan Holloway’s dress.
I can’t wait to get started on this dress, and I’ll be posting pictures of how thing’s are shaping up.
